Featured in almost every Epson scanner and all-in-one printer with a scanning feature, Epson ReadyScan LED technology features a light emitting diode (LED) lamp instead of a traditional cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) light source; resulting in significant time, cost and power savings, on top of being environmentally friendly. Epson scanners featuring ReadyScan LED technology are able to start scanning instantly without a warm up time needed; unlike conventional cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs). There is also no warm-up time needed when switching from scanning film to scanning normal photos or documents. With no warm-up and efficient LED white light, users can experience significantly faster overall scan speeds. Compared to conventional scanners, less power is required to run Epson scanners with ReadyScan LED technology. Less heat is also generated which means a reduction in wasted energy. During operation, power use has been reduced by 20% over previous models. During ready mode, standby power use has been reduced by 44% over previous models. In addition to saving power and time, Epson ReadyScan LED technology is also very environmentally friendly. Unlike CCFLs, the LED light source in Epson scanners with ReadyScan LED technology are mercury free. LEDs don't burn a filament to produce light, so they also last far longer than CCFLs and don't change colour with age, as CCFLs do. | ||
