Stages

1. Registration

Date: 11th January to 4th February 2018

Epson POS Challenge is open to all citizens and residents of ASEAN countries, and registration will be open from 11th January 2018 to 4th February 2018.

Individuals who are interested to participate may register here. Existing Epson POS Developers (EPD) who participate will be able to receive exclusive Epson merchandise.

Each team can consist of up to two members and each individual can only be registered in one team.

Participants will receive a three-digit team number which will be notified at the end of the registration period via email. This team number will be required for preliminary round and final round submissions. Template of the preliminary round submission will also be provided in the email.

2. Preliminary Round Submission

Date: 6th to 25th February 2018 (3 Weeks)

Teams must submit a concept paper of the mobile or web application which will work with the list of eligible Epson receipt printers and on any of the following platforms:

  • iOS
  • Android
  • Web Browser
  • Windows 10 Mobile

Shortlisted teams will be selected based on these criteria:

  • Impact on Current Industry
  • Creativity
  • Application Design
  • Execution Plan
  • Integration with Epson products

Entries can be submitted via e-mail (poschallenge@esp.epson.com.sg) at any time before the deadline with the email subject header in this format: "Preliminary Round Submission: Team xxx”, where “xxx” is the team number issued upon successful registration.

3. Shortlist Notification

Date: 1st March 2018

Shortlisted teams will be notified through email or phone by official Epson personnel, and will be required to confirm their participation for the Final Round within three (3) days after notification.

Epson will announce the selected qualifying teams for the final round on 5th March 2018 via the Epson website.

If a shortlisted team chooses not to participate, they will not enter the final round and will not be awarded any prizes.

Decisions made by Epson are final.

4. Final Round Submission

Date: 6th to 31st March 2018 (4 Weeks)

Finalists will be required to create the prototype based on the concept document in the Preliminary Round.

Demo units can be provided to the finalists, upon request, and will have to be returned to the respective sales offices within two (2) weeks after completion of Epson POS Challenge.

Finalists have until 31st March 2018 to develop the prototype.

5. Presentation

Date: 13th April 2018

After submission, the solution has to be presented to a panel of judges in Singapore by at least one representative from the team.

Finalists will have to arrange their own transportation to the event venue. The attire code for the presentation is smart casual.

Before the presentation, project files or any videos files have to be sent to Epson via NetPorter. Slides and videos are optional.

Finalists have a maximum of 15 minutes for the presentation. There will be an approximately five minutes of Q&A session.

Panel of judges will consist of five (5) Epson management executives.

6. Prize Ceremony

Date: 13th April 2018

Prize ceremony will be conducted after the presentation with a smart casual dress code. All finalists will be guaranteed a prize.

Top three prizes and part of the consolation prizes will be presented in the form of cash cheques in Singapore Dollars. Consolation prizes will include Epson Moverio BT-300 Smart Glasses worth $1,100 Singapore dollars.

All decisions made by Epson are final.
